Grocery Goodness

I am in class all day (wish me luck on my second Swedish massage practical exam!), so I thought I’d set up this post so you could see my latest grocery store haul.  I went to Costco and Sprouts yesterday.  I am stoked because Sprouts is having their Gluten Free Jubilee where most of the GF products are 25% off.  I like to give my body a break from the wheat every now and again (especially in light of my recent gastrointestinal distress), so I was able to stock up for waaaay less than normal.

I got some Food for Life brown rice tortillas, Lundberg brown rice cakes, and So Delicious plain coconut milk from Sprouts; and the giant hummus and tofu (that is 1 of a pack of 3) came from Costco.

I stocked up on veggie broth, coconut milk, tomato paste, and beans – kidney and garbanzo (more cans than what are shown here), along with some GF flour blend and yeast… some bread making in the future, perhaps?

Some rice pasta and some GF pizza crusts that I am especially excited about!  I’m thinking pizza for dinner when I come home from school.

I also hit up the Sprouts bulk bins.

I got green split peas, lentils, and raw almonds.

Along with some raw cashews, short grain brown rice, and almond meal.

And I FINALLY found these freakin’ things!  I’m probably the only person on the planet who hasn’t had these flavors and I was extremely happy to finally find them at Sprouts today.  They’d better not disappoint!

No, dog.  Chocolate bad.

I also grabbed two tubs of spinach (I’ve been getting down on some seriously green smoothies), two 2 lb bags of brussels (at $1.99 each, craziness!), a tub of baby bella mushrooms, and a bunch of bananas from Costco.  I should be good to go for a week or so.  🙂

I hope your Saturday is more relaxing than mine!  What did you get on your last groceries trip?

❤ C

  1. Good luck on your practical exam!

Your groceries look like exactly what I’d buy…I totally wish I could just take all that stuff you bought and avoid going to the store!

Nice on the on-sale stuff! I love it when that happens.

YUUUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!!!! Let me know what you put on those pizza crusts. We were going to have pizza night tonight but our stupid oven isn’t working. And lentils and beans are currently in the slow cooker as i’m making a lot of soup for my lunches next week.

I’ve never tried going GF….I hope you report back if it helps. 🙂 I’ve been reading Ashley’s detox on Edible Perspective, and it intrigues me. The whole bloated at night thing plaques me every now and again for about a week. I just don’t know if I could do it!

And you are not the only one that has never had those LaraBar flavors. I’ve actually NEVER had any LaraBars. Heh.

  7. Good luck today! We are working first then going on a hike…I did not realize it was going to be this cold today and I am now afraid of freezing to death. I hope the group we are going with walks fast! You got a haul at the store. I love those tortillas! They are super chewy just the way I like it! HHMMM now you have me craving split pea soup. Have a great day despite the exam!

  8. Peggy says:

  9. Evan Thomas says:

Sounds like you got a deal on a lot of gluten-free groceries! Most stores charge you an arm and a leg for them.
The cookie dough larabar is amazing. You will think you’ve dies and gone to heaven

  10. now THAT’S my kind of shopping! thanks for reminding me that i was planning on making split pea soup today! gotta get on that 🙂

    Good luck on the exam!

I like those Larabars but I feel like Larabars in general are too small. I always eat them in 1.5 seconds flat.

  12. Gesika is Rad says:

You know what I just read the other day? Raw Cashews aren’t really raw. The shell of a cashews is crazy poisonous and the only way to get it off is to boil the nut until the shell releases. So technically, because of the raised temperature, cashews can never be raw. But they are completely unprocessed and are boiled in nothing but water. And that’s also why they’re expensive, because of the poison. Anywho. I read that just a few days ago and thought I’d share.

    Good Luck today!

  13. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Hope your test went good!!

I haven”t tried those lara bars yet either 😦 *pouts* I can’t find them!

    Have a great day!

  24. Erica D says:

I need groceries ASAP. When I came back from skiing, there was so. much. meat. in the fridge. Not much else. Bad boys!

Sprouts looks so lovely! There’s one 45 minutes from me…I’ll have to coordinate a visit with my traveling sometime. Let me know how all of the gluten free swag turns out!

  25. Exams on a Saturday – that should be illegal! Hope it went well?
I can’t believe your shops do discounts on GF products; that’s unheard-of over here and the products they do look SO much better than ours!

  26. I’m a little late so I hope you killed the exam!!!!! Those sprouts look so good!

  27. Woo hoo for the yeast! Have you tried the Larabars yet?
